After just 18 months, Peter Do has stepped down as Helmut Lang’s creative director.

Peter Do will step down as Helmut Lang’s creative director at the end of November, ending his tenure that began this past March. Despite high expectations, his debut collection received mixed feedback even as he aimed to rejuvenate the brand’s legacy, while at the same time working on his own label.

Burberry reveals a new focus on heritage products in the face of waning sales.

Burberry announced a strategic overhaul aimed at restoring brand appeal through a renewed focus on heritage designs and core products, like its beloved trench coats. The announcement caused shares to surge more than 22 percent as CEO Joshua Schulman, who joined in July, intends to re-center the brand.

The Getty Foundation has announced a $1.55 million investment to further its support of the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Conserving Black Modernism program. The program is funded by the Trust’s African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund and was last supported by the Getty with a $3.1 million contribution in 2022.

Sotheby’s settles its tax evasion case with the state of New York for more than $6 million.

Sotheby’s has agreed to pay $6.25 million to settle accusations from New York’s Attorney General that it helped clients evade taxes on art purchases by misusing resale certificates. The settlement, which includes requirements for Sotheby’s to strengthen its compliance measures, concludes a four-year investigation without the auction house admitting wrongdoing.
