The MoMA Design Store launches a Luna Luna–inspired art and accessories collection.

The MoMA Design Store has launched a product collection inspired by the 1987 amusement park, Luna Luna, which featured installations by artists like Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat. The collection, released ahead of the Luna Luna exhibition at The Shed in New York, includes items like Basquiat caps and Haring tote bags, priced from $2 to $415.

SFMoMA and MoMA New York are staging Ruth Asawa’s first posthumous retrospective.

Ruth Asawa, a pioneering Japanese American artist, will receive her first posthumous retrospective in an expansive international exhibition organized by SFMOMA and MoMA. After five years in development, the show presents more than 300 works, including Asawa’s intricate wire sculptures, paintings, and public art pieces that underscore her dedication to community arts education in San Francisco.

The documentary Kingdom Uncovered: Inside Saudi Arabia reveals severe human rights violations in connection with the Saudi Vision 2030 project, reporting that more than 21,000 South Asian laborers have died while working on Saudi Vision 2030 and Neom. The project has faced allegations of forced relocations of Indigenous people, exploitative labor conditions, wage theft, and worker mistreatment, with some Neom executives making racist and misogynistic remarks. Despite these controversies, prominent architecture firms like Bjarke Ingels Group, Zaha Hadid Architects, and OMA are continuing their involvement, although some firms have exited in protest.

Meta is backing CarbonBuilt, a low-carbon concrete manufacturer based in California.

Meta has announced an investment in CarbonBuilt to support the development of Reversa, a low-carbon concrete line that could reduce emissions by up to 70 percent compared to industry standards. The eco-friendly concrete will primarily support Meta’s data center construction as part of its $37 billion investment in built environment infrastructure. 

Abu Dhabi’s Sovereign Wealth Fund has acquired $1 billion in shares of Sotheby’s.

Sotheby’s has secured a $1 billion investment from Abu Dhabi’s Sovereign Wealth Fund and investment company ADQ and Patrick Drahi’s family, marking one of the art market’s largest recent capital infusions. The funds will mainly reduce Sotheby’s $1.65 billion debt and support global expansion efforts, including real estate ventures and new market growth, and grants ADQ three board seats.
