Art Busan returns to the Busan BEXCO Exhibition Center from 10 to 12 May 2024, with a VIP preview on 9 May.

Since its launch in 2012, Art Busan has become one of the biggest in the region in terms of participating galleries, visitors, and total sales.

The fair’s 13th edition will feature 129 galleries from 20 countries.

The criteria for Art Busan’s Main, Future, and Connect sections has been made even stricter to ensure the galleries that attend are world class.

Among the highlights is the special exhibition programme Connect, which offers artists the opportunity to exhibit beyond the gallery booths.

The section’s director is Henna Joo, a professor at Hongik University and the former global director of Korean mega-gallery Arario. This year, Connect explores the twin themes ‘The Solidarity of the Asian Art Scene’ and ‘Female Contemporary Artists’.

Eight museum-level exhibitions will be presented as part of Connect this year. They will make connections between leading female Asian artists (such as Yayoi Kusama and Jung Kangja) and Western masters including Cindy Sherman and John Giorno, whose ‘Dial-a-Poem’ project was presented at MoMA, New York, in 1970.

Visitors will also experience the diversity of Busan through its Art Week programme, which offers experiences unique to the city—from art and culture to food, drink, and entertainment.
