ARLO MIDTOWN

Location: New York City

Designers: Marvel and Meyer Davis

On Offer: Expanding its Manhattan footprint with a third property in the city, the playful brand’s new outpost brings a pared-down design to Midtown thanks to architecture firm Marvel and interiors studio Meyer Davis, the hospitality veteran whose resume includes 1 Hotel Miami and restaurants for Daniel Boulud and Jean-Georges Vongerichten. The 489 guest rooms and suites span six different typologies, from the micro format Arlo has become known for to more spacious accommodations with private terraces. Balancing the pale blue and white color scheme are warm touches such as walnut furnishings and sun-splashed window benches that coalesce to provide a space for solitude at the frenetic crossroads of Hudson Yards and the Theater District.

Standout Features: Meyer Davis envisioned an oasis in Midtown when designing the communal spaces, outfitting the lobby with green tiles, plant life, and a whimsical hanging moss installation. The atrium lounge is lined in a soaring wooden wall sculpture by Mesh, with various seating areas—appointed in Midcentury–style furniture from the studio’s new furniture line, William Gray, and brass swing-arm lighting—that transition from co-working spaces during the day to happy hour hangouts come night. Fueling the activity is a grab-and-go coffee bar and open-air Nearly Ninth restaurant that serves bistro staples in its street-level dining room and rooftop aerie on the 26th floor.
